learnig to drive + examination

I recently got my drivers license and I want to tell you all about my experience with learning how to drive.

When I had my first lesson I was so scared that I was going to hit someone or something. Luckily, that didn’t happen, all I had to do was steer and change gear and towards the end my instructor let me drive by myself ( with his help of course). After that it went fast. I was soon able to park my car, drive fast on the highway surrounded by trucks and to turn the car around in small streets.

Everything went well and soon my instructor wanted me to apply for my exam. But here in the Netherlands where I live you need to do a theoretical exam before you can do the actual exam. So I made that, apparently they recently changed to a digital system so I did the exam on a computer. Because of the new system you don’t have to wait until the group before you is finished before you can enter. But now when only one person is done you can enter. So I got in early and was finished around the time I was supposed to start. I immediately received my score and it said that I passed. I called my mum who was confused because I called at a different time.

So after a few more lessons I  finally got to the exam.

When my Exam started I had to talk with my examiner first and that went well. He made me feel comfortable. So my exam finally started. He told me to drive home first, since I live nearby. Up until there everything went well. But right when we left that moment something happened. I guess the nerves started to kick in cause I started to drive worse than I did before and I got all tense. But the exam was almost over so we went back to where we started and went back inside to talk about my exam.

I passed that is the first thing he said. After that he talked about what went wrong and what I should watch out for when I drive by myself. Than I was allowed to go home.

So my tips for when you have an exam like this:

1.       If you make a mistake it doen’t mean you failed. You should just make sure you drive safely that’s what matters.

2.       Try to keep your nerves down. A bit of nerves is okey but when they get to much it can influence your driving.

3.       Have fun and be confident in yourself. If you know you can do it, it will work out believe me.

So I hope this helped you if you have a difficult exam and remember if you believe in yourself, it will work out eventually.

See you next time,

Leonie
