Since I am a university student I have a lot of projects in
which I have to work with other student. Although I like working with other
people group projects are not my favorite part of my course.
My first reason not to like project is because they take way
too much time. Teachers never pay attention to any of the other subjects or
project you have to do. So all of your free time will be going to those
projects. Mostly because when you are finally done, one of your groupmates will
ask you to do another task.
Also I always am the lucky person that has to work with
people I don’t get along with. Those people have different ways of approaching
things and always try to contact me in times I am really not available. So in
order to try and work together with them I just adjust my way of working. I do
things before they can approach me so when they ask for things I can immediately
ask for that, I can give it to them.
Even though I can be a shy person working in project groups
made me open up my mouth and say what is on my mind. No I am not the best
person when it comes to convincing but I realized if I don’t say anything and
let others do whatever they want, things go wrong. I am not saying that when I say
something it is always the right thing. But when I see that things don’t go
right I will point that out and come with other options.
No that is not always appreciated by everyone. But sometimes
they can see my point of view and think about other options. I do get into
arguments with my group members, mostly because of miscommunication between members
or sometimes because lies were spread about decisions made. Most of these
arguments could be resolved if everything would be discussed during meeting
where everyone is present but sine that is not the case everyone uses social
media to discuss things and that causes problems. But if you talk about it
later and explain yourself it can be solved.
What is your experience with group projects?
See you next time,
Leonie
